Just as the city had begun to recover from Hurricane Sandy and to operate normally, a nasty nor’easter was sent our way.
Although they were later admonished by the National Weather Service, The Weather Channel named the storm “Athena.”
Bringing driving, heavy snow and swift, umbrella-breaking winds, Athena made for a very wet commute home after a lecture by MCI Smithsonian (to be addressed in a later post).
The following is a montage of broken and discarded umbrellas encountered within two New-York-City blocks:
